STUDIES ON CHANGES IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS DUE TO A CEMENT FACTORYS. Bakkialakshmi and V. BaraniAbstract Trace-element and physico-chemical characteristics of the sand near Arasu cement factory, Ariyalur have been studied. The texture of the samples in all the locations are sandy loam (SL) in nature. All the six sampling stations had high calcium carbonate content. The available phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were very much less in all of our sampling stations which infers that the soil is phosphorus and potassium deficient and unfit for vegetative growth. The micronutrient zinc (Zn) present in a concentration very much less than the tolerance limit (13 ppm) in all sampling stations. Manganese (Mn) is deficient in all sampling stations.
