STUDIES ON THE SEASONAL VARIATION OF WATER QUALITY PARAMETERS AND MACROPHYTE COVERAGE IN A PONDGAUTAM MUKHOPADHYAY AND ANJANA DEWANPAbstract Some physico-chemical parameters and aquatic rnacrophyte coverage were studied in a pond. pH ranged from 7.4 to 8.3. High electrical conductivity was observed. Dissolved oxygen concentration varied from 0.1 to 6.6 mg 1.-1 with low concentration during the monsoons when dominance of Lemna minor was at its peak. Concentration of free CO2 also increased fourfold during the same period. High cover percent of Lemna minor could be used as an indicator of low dissolved oxygen status in the pond.
