IN VITRO PLANTLET REGENRATION FROM COTYLEDONARY EXPLANTS OF CARTHAMUS OXYACANTHA BIEBMEGHA CHATURVEDI, TEJOVATHI GUDIPATI, REKHA BHADAURI AND R.R. DASAbstract Tissue cultures were established from cotyledonary explants of Corthannisaryncantha Bleb. on Gambnrg's (B1) modified medium supplemented with venom concentrations of hbenzyladenine (8A) and u-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA). Explants were excised from 3-5 days old seedlings germinated in vitro. Multiple shoots were induced on 13, medium fortified with 2.23 04 -1333 pM BA. Rooting of the regenerated shoot buds was achieved on medium supplemented with NAA (5.37 pM 21.48 pM). For hardening and acclimatization the regenerated plandets were transferred on filter paper wicks containing 156, liquid basal medium, then into vermiculite. Finally, the plantlets were success, ully transferred to poh for in.:tarn:ion and shifted to green house.
