Abstract

Ehter-water solvent extract and aqueous extract of Glycyrrhiza gbh:, Withania 'premien, Lowsonin inermis and Leucas aspen, are tested individually for antibacterial activity by weg-in,agar may,d after, significant effectiveness shown by these extracts during preliminary screening. The efficacy of ether. water extracts of Glycyrrhaa glabni (0.3) and Willsaninsorratifrm (0.2)found to be having effective anhbacterial activity even at the MIC of 25010' pg/ml against all the five bacteria like E. coh. P. subtilis, E. Perogen, K. pneunmoniae and S. pureun where as in Lawsonin bran. (0.1) and Leitchs ospera (0.1), the MIC ranges between 50-100 x 10' pg/ml. Efficacy of van nos concentrations of plant extracts which showed variable inhibitory activity against each bacteria was compared to Standard Antibiotic (Streptomycin).
