DEVIKAAbstract Today, many of the industrial processes seems to be accelerating at a rapid pace resulting in undesirable changes in the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of air, water and land which inturn may harmfully affect human life. River Coovum receives wastewaters from industries and domestic areas and it is said to be unfit for human activities. Therefore, the present study was carried out to monitor the river for pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms.
