Abstract

Various cultural parameters for submerged cultivation of S. racemosum cohn, for the production of cellulase-free xylanase have been optimized. An inexpensive medium for enzyme production was us(!ti . The strain produced comparable amounts of tylanolytic enzymes to that of other zylanase producing strains. I he enzyme yield was optimal when the medi Urn was inoculated with 4P) h. old inocul UM (2% V/ V) and agitated at 150 rpm for 172 h. Also the xylanase production was enhanced to two fold by the addition of 0.5% zeolite. The Jack of redulase contamination and the thermostability and alkaline nature of the xylanase produced by this microorganism. renders it a suitable strain for ecofriendly %.311,1 bioblea, hing in paper and pulp industrie.
