CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL MUTAGENESIS OF P. PLIRPUROGENUM FOR INDUCED PRODUCTION OF INVERTASEA. B. DHAKE AND M. B. PATILAbstract P. purpurogenum isolated in our laboratory was found to produce intracellular and extracellular invertase after 5 and 4 days of incubation, respectively. Conidia of fungus P. purpurogenum were subjected to physical mutagenesis by UV light and for chemical mutagenesis using NTG (3-nitro, 5 methyl guanidine). The colonies were screened after mutagenesis for invertase production. The chemical and physical mu tagenesis of P. purpurogenum resulted in evolution of fungal strain with more invertase production-
