EFFECT OF SELECTED PESTICIDES ON PHOSPHATE SOLUBILIZATION

AJU K. ASOK AND M. S. JISHA

Abstract

Phosphate solubilizing Microorganism were isolated from crop plant rhizosphere. Four isolates belonging to the species Aspergillus, Penicillium, Pseudornonas, and Bacillus were selected and studied the effect of pesticides on phosphate solubilization. At lower concentration (0.01%) different pesticides showed different effect on the selected isolates. Fungal isolates were more affected by Bavistin whereas Indofil affected bacterial isolates even at 0.01%. At higher concentration irrespective of the organism all pesticides reduced phosphate solubilization significantly.
