Growth of the living things requires nutrients. Emblica officinalis fruit is rich in nutrients; an attempt was made during to prepare culture medium using Emblica officinalis fruit extract for growing fungi. The culture medium prepared by using this fruit is economical as this fruit is easily available in India & in many Asian countries and the medium can be prepared easily. Along with this experimental medium, Sabraud's Dextrose medium was used as a standard culture medium to grow fungi. During this work Aspergillus niger and Candida albi cans ATCC 10231 were used as test fungi which were grown on both, the experimental culture medium and standard culture medium, & found that experimental medium is more efficient in growth and sporulation of the test fungi. their energy and to supply carbon skeletons fi cellular synthesis. But, when they are provided wi a simple energy source such as glucose, many fun can synthesize all their other cellular componer frnm innrganiC sources - ammonium or nitrate km
