ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF CITRUS LIMON FRUIT JUICE AGAINST CLINICAL ISOLATES OF HUMAN PATHOGENSPRADEEP M. TUMANE BHARAT J. WADHER', ASHOK V. GOMASHEAbstract Fruit juice of Citrus limon was subjected to antibacterial screening using clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebseilla aerogenes, Klebsilla pneumoniae. Standard control strains of Staphylococcus aureus (NCTC-3750), Escherichia coli (ATCC-1948), were used to compare the results. Clinical isolates were found to be resistant to one or more antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents. The Cup-platediffusion (Well plate) assay was used to study antibacterial activity. All the bacteria tested were found to be inhibited by citrus limon fruit juice. The active compound identified was citric acid.
