SASISHEKHARAbstract Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA(RAPD) analysis was applied to find out whether any genetical difference occur in the fish species Etro plus maculatus endemic to selected localities in Tamilnadu. Etro plus rnaculatus collected from fresh water resources in Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Madurai, and Karur were subjected to RAPD and RFLP analysis. Although Etroplus maculatus was collected from widely isolated habitats no marked genotypic variation was observed.
