Abstract

Present study deals with assessment of pollution status of Ramgarh Lake,. Gorakhpur. The lake is highly polluted due to discharge of sewage of Gorakhpur city and agricultural run-off. Some physicochemical features were studied during January' 2004 to December'2004. The pH was generally alkaline. DO increase steadily with increasing rainfall and recorded highest in August'04. The other physico-chemical parameters such as depth, temperature, pH, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, total alkalinity, total hardness, chloride and nitrate etc have been analyzed and all the parameters show unsuitability of water for drinking and irrigation purposes.
