Abstract

The present experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the anti diabetic effects of Momordica cochinchinensis fruit extract streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. oral administration of ethanolic fruit extract (200 mg/kg body weight)) for respectively 7,15,30, 45 and 60 days resulted in significant decrease of blood glucose level and an increase in the activity of insulin in the serum as compared to STZ(streptozotocin) induced diabetic rats and placebo control rats. The results clearly show that the extract of M. c.-oclunchinensis possesses potent hypoglycemic activity.
