HETEROGENEITY OF RHIZOBIA ISOLATES FROM VIDARBHA. REGION, INDIA

S.S. PANDE, C.R. UREWAR AND V.S. TAJANE

Abstract

Areas of Vidarbha region were surveyed for the different isolates of Rhizobium in legume crops. Total 38 isolates were screened, to assess the heterogeneity of Rhizobia, both conventional and non conventional approaches could be used. Conventional methods like morphological and biochemical tests were done to study distinct characters. For the assured results, molecular tools and techniques were used. 20 out of 38 isolates of Rhizobia Mere selected and examined for their plasmid pattern by Agarose Gel Electrophoresis. To study the diversity, criteria based on the isolated plasmid profile with random primer. Majority of the Rhizobial isolates shows unique profile of bands indicating legs diversity whereas some showing heterogeneity with variable plasmid profile with random primer OPA 13, heterogeneity in Rhizobial isolate was thus observed. Therefore, specific strain of Rhizobium should be used for seed bacterization of particular crop seed only, for the maximum benefit.
