Abstract

Coal combustion residues (CCRs) is abundantly available byproduct of thermal power plants, which leads to major environmental problems. For effective and safe management of CCRs as soil modifier and to assess the fertility of waterlogged soil (silty clay loam), pilot scale studies were conducted on 0.393 hectares of land at Satpura thermal power station, (Central India) under wheat ( Triticum aestivum) crop cultivation. Admixing 100-300 t/ha of CCRs on silty clay loam soil significantly decreased the bulk density and increased the porosity I 6 %. Application of CCRs at the rate 300 t/ha increased the grain yield of wheat crop by 25 % as compared to the control. The heavy Metal contents in grain of wheat crops meet the food quality standard for human consumption
