DYNAMICS AND ATD UTNBIWON OF SCAUBLE SALTS IN GROUND WATERS WITH SPECIED REFERENCE TO THEHS SUITABILTY FOR IRRIGATION N FARIDKOT DISTRICT OF PUNJAB, INDIA

Abstract

Ground water quality map was generated based on the chemical analysis of 325 ground water samples collected from running tubewells in Faridkot district, Punjab. based on EC and RSC values these waters have been classified into four categories viz., good, marginal - saline, marginal - sodic and poor, which cover 40.5, 7.3, 43.3 and 8.8 per cent of the total geographical area of the district, respectively. The management practices for the use of these waters for irrigation purposes have also been discussed.
