Abstract

To investigate the effects of chemical fertilizers on the yield, yield components and seed oil content of canola (Brassicanapus.L), a split-plot experimental design with 10 treatments in 4 replications was carried out at the Baiecola Agricultural Research Station in the lvlazanda ran province. During the growing season of 2004- 2005, compounds of N, P. K, NP, NK, PK, NPK, NPKS, and NPK Zn were deployed as chemical fertilizers. The highest seed yield of 3141.250 kg/h, i.e. 326.61% increase over the control was obtained by treatment no.10 (T,„=NPK Zn) at which the highest TDM was simultaneously obtained (7098 kg/h, giving 65.82 % increase over the control). The highest number of pods per plant (203 pods/plant) i.e. a 91.16% increase over the control was achieved also at T10 along with the highest number of seeds per pod (25.88 seeds/pod), giving 11.21 % increase over the control. This was accompanied by a significant increase in the number of branches and the 1000 grain weight. The maximum canola oil content obtained at T10(45.83 %) showed a 9.53 % increase over the control.
