STUDY OF PHYSICAL CONSTITUENTS IN SAPOTA (MANILKARA ACHRAS) UNDER SUB ARID ZONE OF MAHARASHTRA

Abstract

Study on physical constituents was carried out on ten cultivars of Sapota at Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri under sub-arid zone of Maharashtra in the year 2003-2004. The cultivar Cricket Ball produced maximum weight of fruit(229.09), size of fruit ( 58.7 cm' ) , weight of skin( 17.7 g) and weight of pulp(205.6 g). The evs Oval, CO-1, CO-2 and Long Oval were at par in the weight of fruit. Cultivar Kalipatti shows minimum weight of fruit (83.7 g), size of fruit (30.8 cm), weight of skin (7.3g), weight of seeds (2.0 g), number of seeds (2) and weight of pulp (74.4 g). Maximum recovery of pulp was recorded in cvs CO-1 andPKM-1.
