STUDY OF PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BIODEGRADABLE SCAID WASTES OF GUWAHATI CITY

Abstract

With rapid urbanization, industrialization and increasing population the huge amount of solid waste generation has created a serious threat to the eco-friendly environment of the cities and towns.The generation of solid waste and its disposal has resulted in a serious problem in Guwahati city due to the pollution arising out of it. Considering the necessity and importance an experimental study was conducted to acquire an idea about the quantitative aspect of various chemical parameters in the biodegradable solid wastes in Guwahati city. The experimental concentration level of Iron,Total phosphorus,Total kjeldahl nitrogen,Ammonia nitrogen and Organic nitrogen in the biodegradable solid wastes of Guwahati city has been analysed in the present study. The results help to build up an idea about the nature, quality and characteristics of the biodegradable solid wastes lying in Guwahati city.
