FLUORIDE IN GROUND WATER SURROUNDING NANDED CITY DISTRICT NANDED HAS MADE THE!IFE MSERABLEJ.U. Deshmukh, Tasneem Siddiqui and N.E. AmboreAbstract The fluoride contents in water more than 3 mg/ L is dangerous it causes flurosis. It is found in the border area of Maharashtra towards Andhra Pradesh, the ground water contains about 10 to 13 mg/Lof fluoride and as a result, the school children in this area show dental fhtrosis and elderly persons show bent bones. Fluoride is found to affect calcium and phosphate contents in bones making the bones brittle. The preliminary survey shows several cases of arthritis in this area. The similar condition is observed beside Nanded city in Asarjan, Brahmanwada and Punegaon Villages. Hence it is suggested to take immediate measures to defluoridify the drinking water from this area.
