CHARACTERIZATION OF PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF WATER AND SOIL IN LALBANDH, A FRESHWATER WETLAND IN BIRBHUM DISTRICT, WEST BENGAL, INDIA

Abstract

The present paper deals with the physico-chemical properties of water and soil in Lalbandh, a freshwater wetland in Birbhum District of West Bengal. Water and soil samples collected from the wetland during the pre-monsoon monsoon and post-monsoon period (2001-2003) were analyzed for studying as many as 10 and 8 important parameters respectively. The study revealed seasonal variation in water and soil characteristics.
