OBSERVATION OF ALGAL FLORA IN RELATION TO INDUSTRIAL POLLUTION OF RAPTI RIVER AT GORAKHPUR

Abstract

Water samples from river were collected and analysed at polluted and Unpolluted site for algal flora (qualitative) and physicochemical properties such as Temperature. Electrical conductivity, pH, DO, BOD, COD chloride, phosphate 8c Nitrate. During the Course of investigation from March 1993 to February 1994. 34 genera and 52 species of algae were recorded both the site. At sites A (Control) 29 Genera and 36 Species were recorded while 16 genera and 22 species were recorded at the polluted site. Few Genera and Species were common on both sites. The temperature plays an important role in development of algae.
