A STUDY ON THE ORGANOCHLORINE PESTICIDE RESIDUE INPUT INTO LAKE KOLLERU THROUGH TAMMILERU RIVERK. Veeraiah and M.K. Durga PrasadAbstract Water samples collected about 50 km upstream of the opening of Tamrnileru river into Kolleru, when extracted and analysed showed high levels of organochlorine (OC) pesticide contaminations . To understand the extent of transfer of these residues into the lake, water samples were collected periodically from an upstream locality of Chinnampeta village, Chatrai Mandal, Krishna Dt., A. P. and at the site of opening of river Tammileru into Kolleru (Scriparru village, Eluru Mandal, West Godavari DL, A. P.). The samples were analysed by Gas and Thinlayer chromatography. a, b and c isomers of FICH, a- Endosul fan and PP DDE, PP. DDD and PP. DDT were the OC residues often noticed in these samples. The levels of c - I ICH residues were noted to be very high in these sample.
