STATUS OF WATER QUALITY OF THANE CREEK (INDIA)

Abstract

The hydrological parameters of Thane creek were studied during the spring high tide and spring low tide from October 1991 to April 1993. During the study persistent hypoxic conditions coupled with exceptionally high nutrients (nitrates, phosphates and silicates) were observed in the creek.A comparison with the data of 1984-85 revealed the deteriorating condition of the creek waters.
