ECO-RESOURCE ECONOMICS OF WOODFORDIA FRUTICOSA KURZ : A REVIEW

Abstract

Woodfordia fruticosa Kurz. belonging to family Lythraceae is an ecologically as well as economically important shrub species of tropical dry mixed forests.The spices possess fairly hardy nature, that it grows in rocky, barran land, and poor soil conditions. It has tremendous medicinal value making it important from economic viewpoint. Present study report on the economic and medicinal uses of Woodfordio fruticosa. Woodfordio fruticosa can be categorised as an important minor produce as the entire plant has some or the other uses; to specify flower, inflorescence, leaves and barks particularly possess tremendous medicinal properties. Woodfordia is a accepted source of ayurvedic drugs through out India. Utilization profile and economics of the plant has been discussed in the present paper.
