PERFORMANCE STUDIES ON SEEDLINGS OF PAULOWNIA FORTUNEI HI IIFFERENT POTTING MEDIA FOR INTRODUCTION TRI- ALS IN CHOTANAGPUR REGION

Abstract

Paulownia has been recently introduced in India, therefore, very little has been reported about it. In order to develop nursery technology, a nursery trial was conducted in lateritic soil of Chotanagpur region to find out suitable potting media for the germination and production of healthy plantable seedlings of P. fortunei. Data on germination, growth and survival per cent were recorded. Seedling grown on I : I: I ratio of soil, sand, FYM had shown excelled germination per cent, germination value, energy period, plant height, girth and survival percentage. So soil, sand and FYM in I: I : I ratio has been found suitable media for germination of seeds of P fortunei in this agro-climatic zone of Chotanagpur region.
