VARIATION IN HEAVY METAL ACCUMULATION IN DIFFERENT BODY PARTS OF SQUID UROTEUTHIS DUVAUCELICh. Naga Murali, V.P. Joshi and S.R. KovaleAbstract Five different body parts of squid Uroteuthis duvouceli available in Rantnagiri coast off Maharashtra were analysed for copper, zinc, lead and cadmium contained in them.Among the four heavy metals, zinc was highest in all organs followed by copper, lead and cadmium. Of the four heavy metals lead concentration was near to the Maximum Residual Level (MRL).The concentration pattern in different body parts for each metal revealed that skin is mostly accumulated with all the metals at a higher level than others. While the lead, value was near to MRL in skin and tube tail region.
