CHANGES IN METABOLITES FROM COTYLEDON TO AXIS IN GER- MINATING GLYCINE MAX (L.) MERRRN SEEDS THROUGH IAA AND TEA

Jagmeet Kaur and Amandeep Kaur

Abstract

Changes in the total soluble sugars, starch, total free amino acids and total soluble proteins from the cotyledons to the embryonic axis of soybean seedlings in response to IAA and TIBA seed priming were studied. Both the treatments decreased the level of metabolites in the cotyledons with resultant corresponding increase in the embryonic axis. IAA (20 lig m1-1) was most effective in causing change in the metabolites compared to all other treatments.
