EFFECT OF OPERATING PARAMETERS ON AEROBIC TREATMENT OF DYEHOUSE EFFLUENT BY GALACTOMYCES GEOTRICHUMN. Rajamohan* and C. KarthikeyanAbstract Dyehouse effluent treatment has became inevitable because of the presence of dyes, which originate from carcinogenic chemicals like benzidine. Golactomyces geotrichum was employed to degrade the dyehouse effluent under aerobic conditions. Effects of operating parameters such as initial concentration of the effluent, concentrations of glucose, pH of the effluent and concentration of peptone on percentage COD removal were determined. The fungi exhibited better COD removal efficiency under optimal glucose dosage of 5.0g/L.The optimal pH range for better fungal activity was found to be 6-8. The fungi showed better COD removal efficiency under nitrogen limited environment with a peptone concentration of 5.0 g/L
