EFFECT OF VAM FUNGI IN ALLEVIATING THE ZINC PHYTOTOXICITY IN SORGHUM BICOLOR (L.) MOENCHS. Senthilkumar and D. I. ArockiasamyAbstract Effect of VAM in alleviating the heavy metal phytotoxicity of Zn was studied using a 22 factorial experiment with Zn and VAM as two factors, 0 and 125 mM of Zn and presence and absence of VAM as two levels. The collected data on various growth parameters were analysed by one way anova and 22 faciorial analysis. The individual pair of treatments were tested using critical difference. The results obtained indicate that Zn definitely inhibits the growth in a simple linear and negative fashion. VAM not only recovers completely the Zn effect but also promotes the growth evevn in the presence of Zn.
