MOLECULAR MARKERS N BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION - AN OVERVIEW

N. Nagendran

Abstract

Biodiversity includes variation at different ;.eve's. The variation within species depends on the genetic constitution and genetic variation can be measured by analysing DNA sequences. DNA finger printing is the basis of several modified molecular techniques like RFLID. AFLP etc, called molecular markers, which are widely used to study variations at DNA level. The paper describes the advantages and limitations of molecular markers in biodiversity studies.
