Abstract

The traditional farming communities of Central Himalaya through their conventional wisdom have developed a number of indigenous techniques to replenish agricultural soil fertility. However, these techniques are not much known to a large section of the mainstream societies and scientific studies on them are least undertaken. This article primarily aims at documenting these traditional techniques of soil fertility maintenance and also describes the methods how traditional farmers put these in practice.
