EVALUATION OF ACUTE TOXICITY LEVELS AND BEHAVIOURAL RESPONSES OF CHANNA PUNCTATUS (BLOCH) TO PHENYL MERCURIC ACETATER. Karuppasamy,Abstract The static acute toxicity of phenyl mercuric acetate on the behaviour and mortality of Channa punctatus have been studied. The LC50 values are 0.56, 0.47, 0.40, 0.38 and 0.32 (in ppm) respectively, for 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 hrs. The observed result indicates that fish exposed the different concentrations of phenyl mercuric acetate exhibit altered behavioural responses and a dose and dose-time dependent mortality rate.
