STUDIES ON THE PREVALENCE OF BACTEILAL PATHOGEN IN THE DISEASED INDIAN MAIOR CARPS OF NAGPUR REGION

Abstract

This paper encompasses studies on isolation and identification of bacterial fish pathogens from diseased Indian major carps (Labeo rohita, Cada cat/a, and Cirrhanus mngala) of different freshwater aquaculture of Nagpur region. Out of 58 diseased Indian major carps tested Aeromonas hydrophila was associated with almost all diseased conditions followed by presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacillus sp, and S. aureus.The pathogens were isolated and identified from variety of diseased spectra e.g. skin infection, dropsy, tail and fin rot, and kidney disease on the basis of morphological, biochemical and cultural characteristics.
