STUDY ON QUALITY PERFORMANCE IN MANGO VARIETIES UNDER WESTERN MAHARASHTRA

Abstract

Study on quality performance in Mango varieties under Western Maharashtra conditions was carried out at Mahatma Phule KrishiVidyapeeth, Rahuri in the year 2005-06. During the study 25 promising cultivars of mango were studied for quality aspects.Among 25 cultivars of mango, cv.Totapuri showed maximum size of fruit (130.67 cm2) while cv. Vanraj showed maximum weight of fruit (598 g/fruit), pulp content (440 g), per cent pulp (73.6%), TS (18.38%), RS (8.68%) and NRS(I 0.11%). The TSS content was maximum (23.500 Brix) in cv. Lungra followed by Ratna and Totapuri. Fruit size was minimum (33.67 cm2) in cv. Neelum. Similarly minimum fruit weight (117 g/fruit) was recorded in cv. Safeda. Maximum stone weight (95 g) was recorded in cv.Fazli,while minimum stone weight (15 g) was recorded in cv. Krishnabhog.The minimum pulp weight (36.2%) was recorded in cv. Dudhpedha.The minimum TSS (10° Brix) was recorded in cv. Neelum.TRS content was minimum (9.98%) in cv. Rajapuri while the RS content was minimum (3.21%) in cv.Amrapali. The Acidity was maximum (3.35%) in cv. Ratna, while in rest of cultivars it was in the range of 2.01 to 3.4%.
