A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE PREVALENCE OF MYXOSPOREANS (11/1YXOZOA : BIVALVULIDA) IN PURE AND HYBRID CARPS OF WEST BENGAL

Abstract

The paper records the prevalence of myxosporeans (Myxozoa : Bivalvulida) in pure and hybrid carps of West Bengal. It has been revealed that the intensity of myxosporean infestation was always higher in the hybrid carps than in the pure forms.The present communication further stress the need for rearing pure carps separately along with culturing hybrids.
