STUDIES ON STANDING CROP OF CHLOROPHYLL OF A TEMPERATE GRASSLAND OF KASHMIR HIMALAYA

Abstract

Standing crop of chlorophyll on the basis of weight per unit area of ground showed seasonal variations and ranged from the high value of 510.2mg.m-2 recorded in April (spring season) to a low of 6.0 mg.rn-2 recorded in January ( winter season.) The standing crop of chlorophyll estimated on the basis of dry weight of green biomass exhibited a variable pattern during the entire study period with highest value of 1.15 mg I obtained in Februrary and lowest of 0.48 mg. g- I in December.
