Abstract

the hazards, precaution and antidots of pesticides and 95% of the respondents donot consider the labels of pesticides as important. Symptoms of chronic poisonings and frequent incirlences of acute poisoning were found in almost all the labourers for which adequate medical facilities were not available.Working in hazardous conditions, direct contact with pesticides, ignorance about the extent of poisonous effect of pesticides and low medical facilities were some of the major causes which exposed the labourers to the pesticides and improved pesticide use, their disposal, technical training, improved application method, better medical facilities and regular monitoring of residues of pesticides in air. water and soil are the some suggestions.
