STUDIES ON THE ISOLATION OF EFFICIENT YEAST STRAIN FOR THE TREATMENT OF DAIRY WASTE WATER S.S.S. MARWHA, P.S. PANESAR AND B. SINGHAbstract An investigation was carried out to isolate efficient yeast strain for the degradation of dairy waste water to BIS permissible limits. Out of 15 yeast isolates tested, Candida parapsitosis MTCC 1965 was found to be the most efficient reducer of BOD5 (84.7%) and COD (87.5%) of dairy effluents.
