GROUNDWATER QUALITY IN AN INDUSTRIAL AREA OF TUPPA, NANDED, MAHARASHTRA

Abstract

A case study on thc quality of bore well and dug well waters around the industrial area of Tuppa region of Nanded city, Maharashtra is made. The present study covers 16 wells and the study reveals that the groundwater is contaminated due to industrial effluent and total hardness, Salinity, Ca and Mg contents are well above Indian standards for drinking water. Crop production and human and cattle lives are adversely affected by this pollution. This study aims at the assessment of the extent of pollution through the industrial effluent.
