IMPACT OF TANNERY EFFLUENTS ON ORYZA SATIVA L. AND HELIOTROPIUM CURASSAVICUM LM.R.E. WILSONAbstract The present study deals with the impact of untreated tannery effluents on plants such as Oryza saliva L. (Gramineae) and Heliotropium curassavicurn L. (Boraginaceae) which are commonly available in the affected area. The physico-chemical analysis of the effluent reveals that all the parameters are high above the permissible limit. The change in the chemical constituents of the soil is correlated with the change in the foliar mineral and biochemical constituents of the affected plants. The discharge of untreated effluent on land has detrimental effects on vegetation.
