SEASONAL VARIATIONS IN PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE TRANQUEBAR-NAGAPATTINAM REGION, SOUTH-EAST COAST OF INDIAP. SAMPATHKUMAR AND L. KANNANAbstract Investigations on the physico-chemical factors at two different stations viz. Transquebar (station I) and Nagapattinam (station 2), lying along the southeast coast of India showed spatial and temporal differences for all the parameters observed. Of the two stations studied, station 1 recorded higher values of temperature. light extinction co-efficient, pH and dissolved oxygen than station 2. Salinity did not show much difference at the two stations. Station 2 recorded higher concentrations of different nutrients (Nor NO2 and Si01) except PO4 which was more at station 1
