MANAGEMENT OF SEEDLING ROT OF OKRA (ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS (L.) MONCH.)D.A. Takale, B.B. Chirmae and S.V. NalawadeAbstract Okra is an import crop of many parts of the world. Okra crop is attacked by number of seed and soil borne diseases. Among these, soil borne root infecting fungi attack roots of plant, limit the nutrient uptake and produce root rot. The seedling mortality of okra caused by Rhizoctonia solani result in poor plant stand and lower yield. Seed treatment with carbendazim @ 1g/kg and soil application of Trichoderma (0.02 g/ kg) + Neem cake ( 8 g/kg ) were found to be the most effective against pre and post emergence seedling rot of okra.
