EFFECTS OF CALCIUM CARBONATE PLANT'S EFFLUENT ON SOIL PROPERTIESENDER SINGH AND C.G. ANANDAbstract The top soils irrigated with both wastewater effluent and well water for 8 years had a higher concentration of calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium than the lower soils. The lower soils irrigated with both waste water effluent and weli water had a higher pH than top soil. Soil irrigated with calcium carbonate plant effluent had a lower infiltration rate, a higher concentration of calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium than soil irrigated with well water. The foregoing effects were more evident for some soil properties in either the surface or subsurface soil layers. Irrigation with calcium carbonate effluent for 8 yr resulted into decrease field crop yield.
