SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF ACCUMULATION OF COPPER AND THE INFLUENCE OF EDTA ON FRESHWATER FINGERLINGS LABE() ROHITA (HAM.)PL. RM. PALANIAPPAN, G. JAGADEESAN, P. VENKATACHALAM AND N. KRISHNA KUMARAbstract An attempt has been made to study the accumulation of copper and the recovery by Ethylene dia mine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) on freshwater fish, Labeo rohita. Labeo rohita fingerlings were exposed to 1.86 ppm of copper for 30 days and 60 days. Copper accumulation in various organs were determined using ICPAES. The accumulation pattern follows in the order : Kidney>Gill>Liver>Intestine>Brain>Muscle. Treatment of EDTA at the rate of 15 ppm shows a significant reduction in the copper level. The obtained results are discussed.
