ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF ETHNOMEDICINAL PLANTS OF NILGIRI BIOSPHERE RESERVE AND WESTERN GHATS

Abstract

In this study an attempt was made to evaluate antibacterial assay of 16 crude extracts of 4 medicinal plants used in ethnomedicine in Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The extracts were tested against Escherchia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Streptococcus aureus using streak plate method. The extracts tested possess various degrees of antimicrobial activity.
