ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY IN THE COELOMIC FLUID OF THE EARTH WORM ELIDRILLIS ELIGENIAEP.K. RAMASAMY, R. JEYARAAJ INDIRA A. JEYARAAJ AND S. SRIDEVIAbstract The coelomic fluid of the earthworm, Eudrilus eugeniae, was extracted and tested for its antibacterial activity. It was tested against two gram-negative strains bacteria namely of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae and two gram-positive strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus megaterium. The coelomic fluid of E. eugeniae showed the maximum antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus among all the bacterial strain tested.
