PARTHASARATHYAbstract Keratinase is an enzyme which can breakdown keratin and is produced by various species of Bacteria, Fungi and Actinornycetes. The keratinase producing organisms can be isolated from diverse environmental sources. Actinomycetes were isolated from the farms and their keratinolytic property was determined by their ability to use chicken feathers as the sole carbon and nitrogen source.
