Abstract

In the present study a novel approach is presented where in the increasing antibiotic resistance among bacterial species is reduced by using ultrasonication at acceptable levels. The culture of Pseudon.ionas aeruginosa was used as the bacterial species and the erythromycin was used as the antibiotic. The ultrasound applied in the present study was 80 KI-1..z with power density of 3.5 W/cm'and bacteria was maintained at 37°C. The Minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC) of erythromycin was between 350 and 100 pg mL-' in dilution series with 50 pg mL-' decrements from 500 to 50pg mL-'.
