OPTIMIZATION OF MEDIUM COMPONENTS FOR POTASSIUM SOLUBILIZATION BY ENTEROBACTER HORMAECHEI (KSB 8) USING RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGYKALAVATI PRAJAPATI, M.C. SHARMA AND H.A. MODIAbstract Response surface methodology was employed to optimize the composition of medium for potassium solubilization by Enterobacter hormaechei (KSB-8), which is less well known as potassium solubilizing plant-associated bacteria. Feldspar (rock potassium), yeast extract and FeCl3 were found to have significant effects on potassium solubilization by the Plackett-Burman design. The response surface method was used to access the optimal region of the medium composition. The analysis revealed that the optimum values of the tested variables were Yeast extract 0.5 g%, Feldspar 2.25 g% and FeCl3 0.0006g% Potassium solubilization of 3.6 mg%, which was in agreement with the prediction.
